Rugby is a highly social sport, and the Fort Hunt Rugby program will foster this tradition in all players.
Before the Match
We will socialize with our rugby mates. If the home team, we (players and coaches) will greet them, show them where our water point and restrooms are, and welcome them to our pitch. We’ll thank them for coming to play us.
We might even warm up with them, depending on their numbers, and the players’ familiarity with the game. This is especially true for the 9-and-under and 11-and-under groups.
During the Match
We will stay positive, toward our teammates and toward our opponents.
We will compliment positive play from our teammates and our opponents.
We will help up off the ground our teammates, and our opponents.
After the Match
If the home team, as soon as the last match is complete, all of our players will grab food and drink, will find their opposite number from the game, and will give it to them, thanking for coming to play us. Only once all members of the visiting team—players and coaches—are fed and given a drink will we get something for ourselves.
The post-match social is a crucial part of the game. Players, coaches and parents will socialize; we will see each other again.
We will select the Fort Hunt man of the match and give him the traveling trophy. If the home team, we will select the visitor man of the match, and our team captain will present that player with a Fort Hunt man of the match medal.
