We offer a spring season sport different from baseball, lacrosse or soccer.
We accept any player from any school--we are not a school-based program. So, players from West Potomac, Mount Vernon, Bishop Ireton, St. Stephens, Browne, home-schoolers, wherever, come and play rugby with us.
For high school players, it can be hard to make a full-contact sports team. Football may be easy as a freshman, but as you get older, it's giong to get harder to make the team, and to get onto the field. With Fort Hunt Rugby, you will be on the field every single weekend, either with the A side, or with the B side, or with both.
Yes, there are scholarships available to rugby players. Most are lower-level scholarships with amounts of money, but they are available, and the coaches will help you get them.
There are playing and travel opportunities for experienced U-19 ruggers. Rugby Virginia is putting together a select (all-star) team, which will travel and play in high-profile matches. There are also higher level select side teams at the regional and national levels.
For college, it will be extremely hard to get onto a full-contact team representing your school, and flag football probably just won't cut it. When you show up to rugby practice at your school, you will have had four or more years of rugby experience, and you will be immediately valuable to your club. You will be immediately brought into the social life of your club, and you will travel to tournaments and away games as a rugby players, getting all of the full-contact action you want, without having to be a varsity-level athlete.
Playing rugby with us, you will make mates for life, "...for he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother..."
