Who plays?
Only fully registered players will play. "Fully registered" means registered with both FHYAA and USA Rugby, with the USA Rugby, Rugby Virginia and Commonwealth Games waivers signed and turned in. This is non-negotiable.
Every player will play in every game for which he/she shows, regardless of whether he/she has been at practice or prior matches (summer schedules are chaotic). All players will play, regardless of their experience or ability. No player will be compelled to play if he/she does not wish to.
We will make every effort to keep playing times equal and fair for all players, regardless of experience or skill. Our program’s emphasis is on participation and fun for our players and skill-building; winning is secondary. That being said, those players who have shown the most dedication through regular attendance at training and matches will have some measure of priority over players who have shown less dedication.
Showtime
Showtime for all matches, home or away, is minimum 30 minutes before scheduled kickoff. Players who arrive early or on time will start, and may well have a choice in what positions they play; players arriving late run the risk of not starting, and have considerably less say in what positions they play.
Away Games
We will play away matches in Springfield, Burke, Chantilly, MacLean, Bailey’s Crossroads, Vienna, Warrenton, Winchester, and possibly even in Maryland or in Richmond.
Carpooling will be an option; we will work this out on a match-by-match basis. Our meeting place for all
carpooling pickup and drop-off is in front of Carl Sandburg Middle School.
Fort Hunt Policies
FHYAA policy prohibits alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs at all events. This goes for practices and home and away matches, and goes for players, coaches, and attending parents/supporters.
